The programme
A Christmas Camp With Purpose
The Great Christmas Toy Challenge brings the excitement of Christmas together with meaningful opportunities for children to create, play, cooperate and grow.
Across nine sessions, children take part in festive experiences including decorating, planting Christmas vetch, preparing treats, testing and designing games, creating toys that move, developing Christmas characters and building a shared Christmas village.
Each experience gives children a practical reason to make choices, follow a process, work with others, respond when something does not go to plan and contribute to a shared outcome.

All children are part of The Great Christmas Toy Challenge, but they are not expected to complete the programme in the same way. Activities are adapted so that each age group receives an appropriate level of challenge, independence and support.

Age groups
Three Age Groups. One Programme.
These are not three different camps. They show how the same programme is adapted for each age group.
Ages 4 to 6
At this age, Christmas challenges are concrete, playful and supported. Children explore materials, follow short sequences, make simple choices and communicate through words, gestures or action.

Ages 7 to 9
Children take on more steps, more purposeful decision making and greater responsibility. They begin to explain their choices, coordinate with others, test ideas and improve their work with increasing independence.

Sessions 6 to 9 are one continuous project: together, the children plan, build and share a Christmas village.

Children help transform the camp environment into a shared Christmas space and plant Christmas vetch to care for during the programme.

The Christmas Kitchen & Identity Studio
Children prepare festive treats using age appropriate cooking steps, practise hygiene and clean up, then create a thoughtful Made with Kindness package to share.
Developmental focus: Practical independence, hygiene, gratitude and thoughtful giving

Children investigate what makes games enjoyable and functional, then design, test and improve an age appropriate Christmas game to take home.

North Pole Motion Lab
Children explore movement without electricity and create an age appropriate moving Christmas toy using magnetic or simple mechanical ideas.

Children create Christmas characters and use imagination, storytelling, role play or an advanced creative challenge to practise expression and perseverance.

Children begin the shared Christmas village journey by considering what a community needs, discussing priorities and planning meaningful contributions.

What ages is Christmas Camp for?
The Great Christmas Toy Challenge is for children aged 4 to 12, with separate age appropriate expectations for ages 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12.
Will all ages do exactly the same activities?
No. Children share the same overall Christmas programme, but the level of challenge, support, complexity and independence is adapted to each age group.
Where is Christmas Camp held?
The programme is available in Żebbuġ, Malta and Nadur, Gozo. All three age groups are available at both locations.
What time does camp run?
Each session runs from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
Which days does camp run?
Camp runs on nine weekdays: 23 and 24 December, 28 to 31 December, and 4 to 6 January. There is no camp on Friday 25 December or Friday 1 January.
Do we have to book all nine sessions?
